Who Told You That You Were Naked?
>
Mr. and Mrs webmaster are back from work/vacation. The AANR-East interim board of Directors meeting was held on 1/24 - 1/25. Your webmaster provided sound and video services for the meeting. The meeting was very productive and we addressed many issue regarding nude recreation - both current issues and future ones.
We stayed several days at Cypress Cove and then went on the Big Nude Boat. 11 days of sunshine and no clothes. (sorry for those of you caught in the cold.) On the ship, we ran into many friend that we hadn't seen in years including a couple from the old Sun Ranger/ Sunfun days. Nudist friendships never seem to go away. There were 5 of us from Niagara Naturists on the Ship.

Back to topThe primary and most important mission of AANR is to promote nude recreation. The most important part of that mission and the least showy, or in advertising parlance, the least sexy, is advocacy.
Many times, a state or local legislature proposes a law or regulation, that on the surface, seems reasonable, but can lead to problems with nude recreation. The following is from the AANR Government Affairs Team (GAT):
We received another 154 bills for review since last week's report. Among the 'lowlights' are bills that seek to expand certain prohibitions relating to pornography involving minors, and revise provisions relating to the crime of unlawful dissemination of an intimate image. This mix-up again conflates AI images, pornography and simple nude images.
We spend a lot of time trying to find the true intent of legislators
bills. Many times an honest concern for avoiding sexual exploitation
takes a turn to our right to have a nude images of ourselves. Our
efforts are to correct language in bills before they make it into law.
It's easier to fix a bill in committee than change an existing law.
This year is proving to be an enormous challenge to finding the laws
that will unintentionally criminalize wholesome family images, or that
boudoir picture you innocently took last year.
Sorry for the short notice. This show is on until 2/28
Surveillance and Human Vulnerability is an interactive installation by acclaimed Western New York artist gary l. wolfe. The exhibition, which delves into themes of vulnerability, privacy, and surveillance, will be on view at both the UB Art Galleries Center for the Arts Gallery and Castellani Art Museum.
gary l. wolfe, a Buffalo native, has a rich history of artmaking in the region. With undergraduate degrees in Christian Ministries from Houghton College and in Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Master of Arts in Humanities, also from UB, wolfe's professional career spanned 28 years in health and human services organizations with Erie County. These experiences deeply influence his artistic work, focusing on the marginalized and exploring themes of pain, suffering, and vulnerability.
Who Told You That You Were Naked? integrates traditional paintings with video technology to create an immersive experience. The installation features 80 paintings-40 naked figures and 40 portraits-arranged to surround viewers, combined with hidden surveillance cameras, interactive digital elements, and a soundscape featuring the voices of the models. The figures are not idealized and often pose with an object or gesture that obscures and thereby protects their identities. Visitors will encounter the dual nature of surveillance culture through two distinct thematic experiences at each location: the "seductive" side at UB Art Galleries and the "sinister" side at Castellani Art Museum.
